I'm a 29 (forever) year old teacher who lives with her wonderful husband (I call him Super Spouse here, SS for short). Super Spouse is a soccer coach, operations manager, ~~and teacher, too~~. ~~He's also taking graduate courses to get his degree in athletics administration~~. He just got a dual master's degree in athletic administration. We're incredibly busy especially in the spring and fall. We have 3 cats, 2 turtles, a bunch of fish, and an Ohio beagle. In November, we welcomed our first child, The Wombat. Busy just took on a whole new meaning!

I had RNY (Roux-en-Y to you non-weight loss surgery folks) gastric bypass on June 7th, 2010. Yes, I know weight loss surgery is dangerous. Yes, I know I should just eat less and exercise more. However, after 25 years of fad diets, exercise routines, and self-loathing I decided to get some help. RNY is not the solution, it's a tool to help me make the changes I need to make.

Some days, June 7th feels like a birthday. Other days, it feels like the death of who I used to be. Hopefully, as I progress through this journey it will prove to be the birth of a new, improved, and healthier me.
